Building Maximum Momentum
Creating One Visual World for a Global Kickoff
OpenText Kickoff and Sales Kickoff are among the company’s most important annual events, aligning employees, leaders and sales teams for the fiscal year ahead. FY27 unfolded through major gatherings in Toronto, Berlin and Singapore, supported by site events in OpenText offices around the world. The campaign needed one bold visual idea that could connect keynote stages, large-format screens, presentations, videos and sales materials across regions. With a Formula 1-inspired theme—Maximum Momentum and Ignite to Win—the challenge was to create the scale and cinematic energy of motorsport without the time or budget of a live F1 production.
The Creative Solution
One Master Image Became the Campaign’s Starting Grid
I created the original hero image: a light-blue, high-velocity environment built around an AI-generated racing driver and a Formula 1-inspired world. Once approved, it became the creative foundation for the company-wide campaign. The wider design and video team extended the system across stage graphics, presentation environments, event screens and supporting communications, all following the palette, speed, atmosphere and visual language established in the master artwork. Any dashboard elements shown in the film are fictional campaign UI, not OpenText product UI.
The Execution
Building a Shared AI Production System
A real motorsport production would have required vehicles, locations, wardrobe, cast, crew and extensive post-production. I used generative AI to build that world as a flexible production system the full creative team could work from:
- Campaign Art Direction: Designed the approved master composition, racing character, luminous blue environment and high-speed visual language that set the standard for the wider campaign.
- AI Asset Library: Generated a consistent family of characters, racing apparel, helmets, vehicles, locations and cinematic environments that made a production of this scale achievable.
- Cross-Functional Team Enablement: Built and shared a reusable visual world that the design and video teams could extend across event deliverables without recreating the campaign from the beginning.
- Script-to-Screen Film: When I was later given only the approved script, I storyboarded the narrative, generated the additional images and video sequences, and completed the edit, compositing and delivery of the 65-second film used at the event and in live sales presentations.
The Outcome
From One Image to a Global Event System
The campaign grew from one hero image into a coordinated global experience, appearing on keynote stages and large-format screens and supporting FY27 gatherings in Toronto, Berlin and Singapore as well as OpenText site events worldwide. The final film extended the same world into motion and was reused in live sales presentations. Most importantly, the system gave the full creative team a shared production language—showing how AI-assisted art direction can unlock work that would otherwise be too expensive or slow to produce while keeping a large international campaign visually consistent.
